Unfortunately for everyone, introversion conveys indifference. As an extrovert, I have experienced deep loneliness for lack of simple encouragements. Most of the people I love are introverts, so, please don't read blame, just a lament. Not sure what the answer is. I've expressed my need to hear some positive feedback without provocation to little avail. Where that takes me? Maybe I don't merit the effort encouragement requires.

Great post; great insight into the perennial issues of extroversion/introversion at work.

I just discovered this blog by accident. It's one of the most fascinating forums I've seen in a while. As an extrovert married to an introvert, I sometimes forget that his fundamental approaches to life's challenges and stresses are completely different from mine. For me the modalities of choice involve loud and colorful complaining followed by a bout of shopping. He, on the other hand, will get himself into what seems to me to be a desperate state before uttering a peep. I have to remember to check in with him in a way that's not prying. Same goes for my introverted colleagues, who are in the minority on my team.

Thanks for the insight into the thought processes, reactions, and values of the introverted!
